Poor Hosting Service has History

Posted by admin at May 8th, 2008

After my own experience with Bluefur.com, I searched the net and found not only did other people have issues with Bluefur or their predecessor  Monsterhosting, but some of the vicious  and unprofessional postings had occurred previously as well.

Gary and Lisa Jones have been provided a number of opportunities to resolve the situation but have declined.  From reading online about other people’s experiences with them I am not surprised.

The matter will be pursued and court action will be taken.  I understand it will be a long process but hopefully in the end there will be some retribution for the disgusting behavior.

Mistakes do Happen - but than Correct Them!

Posted by admin at February 23rd, 2008

I was doing an audit of domains that I have registered and came across a domain I did not recognize. The WHOIS shows my name & address information but my email address is incorrect. I than checked out the website and made contact with the operator of the site.

Here is what I found out “the domain is registered by the the guy who owns and operates blue fur hosting wich bills me under the the name manticore media, i signed up for
a domain 3 or 4 years ago when blue fur called itself monsterhosting i was
told i could not switch hosting services because the domain was mistakenly
registered in some one elses name then every year since they forget to
bill me even though i send them an advance email requesting they do so and
my acount gets wiped out and i lose all my email.”

I have informed the site owner that I would be more than willing to help him get his domain registered into his own name. The company that registered the domain and made the initial error should have done so once it was brought to their attention.

Failing to accept an error and than correct it boils down to the difference between good customer service and what this person received.

Faux Blogging - Cyber Terrorism

Posted by admin at February 18th, 2008

Some people feel that they can anonymously post articles that attack a business or person.  There has been a growing number of blogs posted that do exactly that,  make false claims that are meant to discredit a business or in other instances destroy a person.

While freedom of speech is  a value cherished by many, there is no right to create fictitious stories  and publish them online with the intent to harm someone.  The internet is instant and once something has been published online there is no way to guarantee that it can be completely removed.  In fact even if such an article is removed, if one person downloads it and passes it on, that article could go one forever causing damage as it passes from one computer to the next.

From reading recent court decisions, the courts too feel that online defamation can have a more detrimental and long lasting effect than in other arenas.

At least Blogger.com & Google have taken somewhat of a stand against faux blogs.  If brought to their attention a blog set up to appear as coming from another person will be removed.

So be vigilant and if you’re aware of a fake blog . . . report it.  Get it offline!

Freedom to Blog

Posted by admin at February 15th, 2008

There has been a lot said about freedom of speech and our right to it I am not one to be shy about giving my opinion. However I do believe that my brain functions before I speak. I have read a number of comments in blogs & on facebook and some of the things being printed are being done so with reckless abandon and irresponsibility.

In fact since I have chronicled my experience with Bluefur.com, coincidently a number of very malicious and disturbing posts have cropped up on the internet. It is clear from reading the posts and doing some investigation that the author of the posts is not very intelligent.

The posts though are very hurtful & could be quite harmful to a person’s reputation & business. I have decided to rigorously pursue the matter in a court of law.

Webdesign Opportunity

Posted by admin at February 14th, 2008

This request came to Derek from one of the past student sponsors.

“I am in the process of hiring a new web/IT person for one of the companies here. I thought I would ask if you knew of anyone looking for work that has some descent skills. The work right now is mostly updating content and skins in dotnetNuke, creating email templates and some other general IT work. Wordpress skills would be an asset as well. Software that we use is typical - adobe web suite. There are some CRM and CMS programs to deal with as well. An ideal person would have good web skills ( graphics/coding ) and the ability to pick up new programs fast.

This will be a contract position - full time hours - for three months with the objective of finding a permanent full time employee.”
